Money packets are an exceptional advertising tool. The culture of giving money packets originated from the Chinese community. In Chinese, they are known as “Ang Pau”, and were gradually adopted by the Malays and Indians. They are now widely used for monetary gifts. Money packets epitomize good wishes and luck, and are a way to extend blessings to the people receiving them.
Most commonly, money packets are handed out to friends and family during social and family gatherings such as weddings, as well as important festive occasions such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and Deepavali. In business too, many companies give out free money packets to their customers or partners during the festive season.
